These are expensive as hell so it may be worth while to take it apart to see if anything is amiss. Could you have had something pressing on a button that could discharge the unit? Maybe the batteries were not fresh when you installed them? The batteries could have been sitting on the shelf for a period of time and the exact charge is unknown. Checking the voltage is an indication that the battery has a charge but it does not tell the true condition for that you need to do a load test. Unfortunatly once you load a drycell to the point of voltage drop the cell is pretty much scrap. And not many will subject themselves to expensive tests but just replace the battery instead. Does the light on the dash flicker at all? Could the light on the fob be burned out?
