I'm having almost the exact similar problems with jenovaimproved. cold idle problems and stalling but stalling disappears after car gets hot. And i have almost no power and torque in the low rpm. my driving is most mainly in the 2.5 or above rpm. Oh i can't forget the hiccup in the rpm sometimes (not all the time) when i put the gas pedal to the floor. This car right now as it is suck when cold but feels a "little bit" better after it gets hot. i was thinking the same thing that it must the vanos (mine is double vanos since i have a 2000 323i e46) but i have yet to clean the DISA and the ICV and the throttle body. And mainly inspect those air intake hose for any crack or something... @jenovaimproved if you have fixed your problem, it would be NICE if you shared your solution. ~~Thanks to everyone
