I just went through the same thing. THe pimple of a PO somehow managed to lose/sell/keep the ashtray. A kind member of another forum had one and sent it to me. But not before it occured to me that it might be a great place to put one of the garmin or tom tom satnav units. I never did measure anything but a couple look like they are quite close. Get one with an external antenna plug and you could run the antenna someplace discreet and improve reception. It looks like a 3"x4"-ish hole to me (76x100mm)
