I've done it twice. 99 740i and my 01 540i. Not that bad of a job. If you've done complete rebuilds you can do this. There are several step by step write ups on the msg bd that give very good details. Just make sure to do everything you can while you have the intake off. Trickiest part to me is getting the pick in there to get the clips off the fuel injectors to remove the rails. Some say you can leave the rails on and you can but I feel its easier to just remove them. Seating the intake is easier with the rails off.
