If not, the airbag light comes on, as you also disconnected the
BMW Airbag Warning Light Seat Occupancy Sensor.
The fault will not clear on it's own. If you do have the tool or access to one, you can reset it yourself.

7-series E32, 7-series E38, X5, Z3 E53, Z8, Z1,

Monitored by a micro-processor the SIR3 digital resetter resets the service interval display according to the manufacturer's specifications - Delete function of airbag control light in instrument. Use in every BMW-car with round 20-pole BMW-Service socket. Reset function of Service Interval, Airbag control light and Brake fluid control light/annual inspection (where applicable, country specification).

Note: the SRS system on your BMW needs to be functioning properly in order to reset the SRS light. If the system detects a fault on any of the systems sensors a reset without replacement/repair of those failed components is not possible. The unit does not scan faults, it resets the warning light. Comes with complete instructions.
