98' 528I, Im in need of help, I am not in control of the dashboard lights, headlights, and signal lights. for the most part they do not turn on (they dont work), but there are times when they do.

My headlights automatically turn on at night, i do not have to do anything, when this happens my signal and dashboard lights dont work, they turn off once the dashboard lights and the signal lights randomly start working, then i have to turn the knob on the left side to turn the headlights and dashboard light back on.

Basically if the signal lights work then i have to manually turn on the dashboard light and the headlights, which is the the way it should be (at night), but once they stop working, the dashboard light turns off and the headlight go on this(automatic mode) any ideas of what the problem is???
