Hello. I am from Norway and own a 323i -00 run 140.000km. I have done exatly the same prosedures as you pluss some more.
And i have the same problems... Can't figure it out.
But i can explain why your engine runs at 1000rpm after could start.
It's beacuse it's pre warming the catalyzers.
I change my o-ring to beisan system 1 year ago.
This morning I tried unplugging the exhaust vanos solinoid, like you did, and my car run much more stable.
Not the usually "jumping" it does when it's "mid warm". I dont know how to explain it in english. But the car makes jump and then all most stall, this is when i am gentle on the trottle at low rpm's before the car gets fully warm.
I have not leak tested my vanos, not sure if they even have the tools here at my garage to do it.
Sorry to interupt the tread but i really wanna find a solution to this.
