I need to let her go. Why?

I drove a sport one and was love at first drive. I guess my middle age crisis has something to do with it. I spent more than six months looking for a '00/’01 Imola or a Burgundy, but prices were all over my budget. I found one burgundy with a bad engine in TX, and a ’99 with a bad tranny in WA. With a friends help, we swapped the engines. My new girl is not ready yet, but my wife is tired with all the mess I made all over the house and she is also complaining for having 4 cars and a motorcycle for 2 drivers (taxes + insurance + maintenance) and a 5th in the garage coming out in pieces.

About the lady looking for a new home:
I am the second owner, all maintenance records since the previous owner. She has been spoiled since birth. I have not experienced a single inconvenience with this car. On Sept. ’09, dealer performed inspection II, changed oil, a steering hose, spark plugs and some other little things. To fix a small oil leak, they quoted $2,500 for changing upper timing, valve covers and vanos selenoid gaskets. That is a third of what I paid for the car (???). With the virtual help of David and all the members of this great board, I decided to do it by myself. BTW, I took the chance to paint the valve covers in red (powder coated).

As most of you guys, I have a passion for these vehicles and I rather spend my free time working on my cars than playing golf or watching TV.

Generals:
2001 740 I, short and standard version (no heated seats, no heated steering, no parking sensors, no special seats, no curtains). Except for tail lights and wheels, it is 100% original. I have original tail lights and wheels available if you are interested in putting her back to original condition.

Black (cosmosshwarz 303/9), with tan interior.

Currently 130,500 miles but I am still driving her. It will be around 131,000 when delivered.

Tires have more than 50% of useful life (3 of them read 6 on the depth gauge and one is 5.5).

Wheels are style 93 and spare is the original style 5. I bought the 5th style 93 but it did not fit in the trunk with a similar tire. I paid $80 for the wheel and if you want it, you can have it for additional $50, but you need to buy a tire that fits.

Brakes have more than 15K miles of useful life. I changed the brake fluid and both pre-cat O2 sensors less than 6 months ago.

All windows work properly. All pixels are bright and visible. Nav. MKIII with cd4 (Texas).
6 CD player works perfectly. Satellite radio installed but not activated. All manuals and tools.
Battery is less than one year old.
Mechanically, needs nothing. Not a single code, drives and shifts as it should. Suspension is firm and quiet. A/C is very cold.
Carfax available: never in an accident. Clear title on hand.

My to do list:
I guess my neighbors hit the hood with a basketball and bent it, it is not very noticeable but I will fix it before delivering. It will cost $100 to fix it with paintless dent removal tech.
An OBD II wood cover in perfect condition is on my desk. I will install it.
She has some paint chips on the hood that I will take care of, once the weather allows.
I have the puckering dash trim issue and I will leave it as is, to be fixed for the new owner.
I would suggest new owner to replace tranny fluid and filter, as a preventive maintenance procedure.
A new windshield will be great, it has a Pilkington (please stay away from this brand) and looks like it was sandblasted. It is OK, but not very comfortable to drive facing the sun on the highway. I just noticed after driving my wife's car (yes, a 740IL white).

I am asking $8,000 for it as is.

I am willing to consider serious offers. Not interested on trades of any nature.
If really interested, I can send additional pics. you may ask.

This vehicle is listed for sale locally and in several internet places; first showing cash will take home this fantastic machine.
