Your e-mail address did not work. It likely came with an M-20 engine. You will need your VIN to check for certain, unless you think the previous owner meant there is something different in there, than what came stock in the car. If that's the case, you probably need to locate some serial number off the block.

Here is some information on the M20 engine:

If you need a mechanic, post a question on the E30 board that says in the subject "Looking for good independent mechanic in ______ ." and enter your city name there. If you don't get a reply, try the E38 board as well... alot of people there use independents.

This is what my 1987 325i engine looked like:

Your original question:
MY ENGINE BLEW I NEED A KNEW ONE BUT IM NOT SURE WHAT KIND. THE GUY THAT SOLD IT TO ME SAID THERE'S A DIFFERENT TYPE OF ENGINE IN IT. MY CAR IS A BMW 325 STANDARD, REAR WHEEL DRIVE, 1988 4-DOOR. CAN I LOOK UP MY NUMBER TO GET ENGINE TYPE AND WHERE CAN YOU FIND A CHEAP MECHANIC? THANX, JASON
