Hi, I've just installed my Vanos kit (seals & bearing race) a few days ago. Everything went smooth as far as installation goes. I have a question on the Vanos operation though. First the car is a 95, it has the new style vanos with spacers and a spring on the intake gear. After some work done on the head I've had this rattle-y noise coming from the front top of the engine, more pronounced on deccell around 1800-2000rpm. I thought I'd service the vanos with the above kit/s, which I have to say are great quality, and was very happy with the results, plus I figured I need the seals anyways. I am still braking it in as we speak, however the noise is still there. I am not sure my cam adjustment works as it should. The reason being: While doing the Vanos upgrade I tried to test the system per the procedures (compressed air and actuating the solenoid), my intake cam is not moving!?!?! Seems like it is binding, you can turn the gears with the tool end to end (slots on the intake and exhaust gears) but with everything hooked up and tight Vanos itself does not adjust. Solenoid seems like it's working (applies enough pressure against my thumb - I think, and piston moves freely).

So in summary: Although the rattle I am experiencing could be because of this but what else should I look for. I could not find any info on how tight the secondary chain/gears assembly needs to be in order to work properly. Just need some thought or ideas before I staart tearing things apart. Thnx in advance, and for the good product.
