Subject: AC fix and correct R12 expansion valve?

Morning guys...

I am pretty sure my slooowww AC leak is the expansion valve (has a drop of oil hanging from the bottom, and all the fittings under the hood are dry) Its a 5/85 build 745i, still running R12. Mobile Traditions/Maximillian's ( AC Part List ) says 64 11 1 363 581 is for pre 9/85 but doesn't specify R12 or R134. They also list 64 51 1 372 503 as after 9/85 with a note of R12. But if you order a 64 51 1 372 503 from the dealer, it has R134 stamped on it!?!? 64 11 1 363 581 is NLA from the dealer.

So I am thinking the Maximillian's R12 note on 64 51 1 372 503 is an error, and that 64 11 1 363 581 is the correct R12 valve. Searching on that p/n, this valve pops up and "looks" correct, but it doesn't say if its R12 or R134a:

E23 Expansion Valve But my guess is its the correct valve. What do you guys think?

Also, I thought I'd drain and replace the oil while the system is open. Does anyone know how many ounces? Any objections to this stuff: AC Oil

Thanks for any advice...
