Hi Matt,

For sure it'll only work with wireless throttles.

Here is my thought: the car's ECU decides engine RPM & fuel supply based on a set of algorithms.

There are several inputs to the algorithms: throttle position, gear selection (if auto), MAF air density and temperature, current engine RPM and a few others.

The main outputs are the amount of fuel that's being supplied to the engine, injector timing, etc.

The relation between these parameters is set by mapping within the ECU. When my car was getting remapped the technician told me he augmented 26 maps.

As far as I can see all the Sprint Booster box is capable of doing, is increasing the signal level from the wireless throttle. The effect can't be any different to pressing the pedal harder.

I for one am (sadly?) concentrating a lot on best MPG from my driving at the moment. My best has been 600 miles from a full tank. You know what a heavy right foot, real or simulated, will do for your fuel consumtion figures.

Incedentally in my day job I have undertaken several investigations into "runaway vehicles" - all commercials, no Toyotas yet. When you look at the algorithm inputs, you can find inputs that are inversely proportional to RPM setpoint. If such an input signal goes to zero (e.g. sensor failure) the engine RPM can increase even with no throttle input if there are no software safeguards.

Remember the recent posting here where a tranny problem caused high RPM?

Greg.
