Hi there,

I've had one of those same years before and they are under rated fun little cars.

I'm not sure about the e21 head on the E30, the displacement is different between the years so that would be something to look out for. The later year e21's went from a 2.0l to the 1.8l so it may fit.

Just curious, have you tried looking into an M42 conversion? It might be worth it as the prices have come down significantly and all of the E36 guys want to ditch that sweet engine for the M50/M52.

Also, it sound like you are pretty handy with a wrench so maybe check into getting an M44, doing an OBD1 conversion, which should net an extra 8-10hp out of the M44 with that alone.

Also, if you want, you can get the M47 crank, M42 rods, S52 pistons decked and reliefed and with the 2.8l MAF running that stroker setup you should be running somewhere in the range of 150-170+ RWHP according to some other guy's dyno numbers in their E36. That'd be one sweet ride in that little 318i.

Just a thought.
