Allow me to chime in on this: I never checked the temperature of the valve cover, but i noticed no more yellowish water/oil sludge build up on the oil filler cap since i did the vanos seals, though i do a lot of short distance driving at very low ambient temperatures atm. Very nice side effect! Though i can´t yet think of a reason why this is so.
I even checked the valve cover vent hose to the oil separator- it´s sludge free. There always used to be this mayonnaise-like buildup when doing this kind of driving. Great, this should keep my CCV system nice and clean.
