I'm normally found on the E32 board, being the proud owner of a 1992 735i. The salvage yard I work at, in So Eastern Michigan (Detroit/Metro), is one of the ones contracted by good ol' Uncle Sam to destroy vehicles redeemed for the "Cash For Clunkers" rebate. I won't get into my views regarding the politics of this program loved by some panned by others.

We received two equally beautiful Bimmer's... a very early E39 540i with a 4.4L M60 engine (engine already destroyed by the dealership) equipped with a 5 speed auto transmission, and a 1989 750iL. These vehicles cannot be liberated from the program (I've tried every angle), so to my dismay they must be destroyed (crushed) within 6 months. Both vehicles are Schwarz (Black) with Natural Leather interiors (Parchment)
