firstly sorry for the long message

I have a 2000 528i manual msport which a few months ago had a recon engine put in from a auto 328i double vanos as the previous engine overheated. This engine has not run as it should since. Firstly when i put the engine in it would not start at all, i took it to a ecu specialist and he said the ecu had wiped out and he had re-installed the software the car started but still has problems.

The car is very slugish through all the gears and rev range, it vibrates when taking off, i have replaced CAM sensor, CRANK sensor, AIR FLOW meter, throttle bodie has been cleaned and replaced, on the diagnostics these were the faults the engine light went off, now its back on. When starting the car on a cold start the EGR valve blows air for about 30 seconds and then stops. I opened the EGR valve up and it seemed shut. I would appreciate any feedback help.. Thanks
