Despite the griping of the bad ones and repeated trips to the mechanic, there are still tons of good ones out there. Mine has been in a few times. Maybe more thanmy liking for the amount of driving I do, but, it really isn't that bad and not much different than my E39.
Obviously, I would suggest you look for a good done and jump straight in!
