Subject: I think it looks like the e65 is like an e38 as far as checking the transmission

goes. A lot of that info for e38s has been discussed on that board and I imagine is also written up on the e38.org site. It might be possible to get a small sample from the fill plug when the car is fully cold. I have never known anyone to try though. I suggest you call Kirt Koeller at Auto Sport Unlimited in Michigan. The number is 800-624-3876 ext 5735 I think. He is an expert on rebuilding ZF transmissions and has helped many of the e38 owners. I changed my 95 750iL oil and filter at about 50,000 and will again at about 100k. The liftime oil is basically the lifetime of the warrenties. Read up on the e38 oil changes and call Kirt. Let us know what you find out. I guess you have the 6HP26 ZF Transmission?
