I have a few issues with the car to iron out. Have been on the road too much. So far I found a few things different (e46 and e39) from what I used to know on the e34 already. They are all improvements I think.

1) There are no more hose clamps on the coolant hoses. Although I haven't open any one up yet. I believe it has an o-ring between the rubber hose and the plastic neck to seal. So no more over tightening the connection to crack the plastic neck. No tightening is required.
2) The fuel lines similarly do not have any clamps. A special tool is required to disconnect the fuel line.
3) The plstic engine compartment under belly pan is fastened to the body with special fasteners very easy to loosen and attach. They stay on the pan after loosening. The fastener has a very coarse thread to allow ventilation so it will not retain moisture to promote rust. You will like the design.
