Assuming you are after a standard audio-only Aux-In

1. Use the CD changer input, and fit a switch to switch between CD and Aux-In. Using the CD-changer emulator you can have it that a CD does not have to play all the time

2. Do the same but for tape, but you have to play a tape all the time.

3. Use the Aux-In on the TV tuner. Only if you have TV. Advantage: picture and sound, play movies from the ipod. Disadvantage: only mono, no tone control.

4. Replace the 2001 tuner with a BM53/BM54 tuner from Sept-2002 onwards, These have a native Aux-In support, accessible via the MODE button.
Sell your tuner on ebay to recoup costs.

If you want audio + ID3 MP3 text:
1. Use a Intravee interface and control the iPod. You need to sacrifice the CD changer - or you could use both with a switch to switch the ibus+audio between the two.
