Subject: Saw the F01 (well, really just the F02) at a BMW USA unveling last night

Unfortunately, we couldn't drive - this was a food/drink look and see event in a ballroom at the Ritz.

They had two 750Lis, both in Cashmere Silver with Oyster interiors. One had the full rear seat package, including a screen in the back of each front seat, 2 place rear seating, and full power adjustments for each seat.

We got to poke around them, and they had the electrical systems plugged into power inverters so we could run all the gizmos.

It's a big, thick car. The front is very blunt and tall. It has a nice shoulder line that runs down the doors and carries into the taillamp. The chrome piece around the repeater lamp may be a bit much. I suspect I will warm to it, and it looks good from the rear 3/4, but it doesn't grab me the way an E38 does. Or an E32 for that matter.

Interior is fantastic - it feels more in the spirit of an E38 - seat controls are back on the side of the seat, shifter is back on the console, the center stack is back to being canted ever so slightly toward the driver. Rear footrests appear to be identical to the E38 iL :-)

In the rear, unlike an E65 there is no more 2nd idrive knob to control the rear seat entertainment. Apparently there is a wireless remote instead, which was MIA.

No spare tire, no real tool kit - screwdriver and tow hook are still there, share space with a first aid kit.

Twin turbo 4.4 has some neat touches, including a seperate cooling system for the intercoolers.
