The intake camshaft position sensor is a common failure and is not due to the failed vanos seals. Aftermarket CPS sensors are not working, so be sure to get a BMW OEM (dealership) part.

Like all other cars, your vanos seals are failed and replacing them will provide significant performance improvements and increased fuel economy.
