Your codes are an indication of failed vanos seals.

The CPS sensor is a Hall Effect sensor. It detects a magnetic field.
A magnetic wheel is mounted on the camshaft sprocket. It has different physical levels on it. When the level closer to the CPS sensor is over the CPS sensor the sensor provides the DME (engine computer) a positive signal. This way the DME can assess the relative position of the camshaft to the crankshaft and adjust the camshaft timing using the vanos.
Look at the left side (exhaust side) of the picture below. You can see the magnetic wheel at the front of the exhaust sprocket. The vanos mounts at the front of the engine and the CPS sits just in front of the magnetic wheel to detect it.

You are either tightening the CPS to the point where it's interfering with the magnetic wheel path, or the wheel is loose and protruding forward and hitting the CPS sensor.
Either way the sensor it hitting the wheel and the wheel is removing chunks of the sensor. This is the noise you're hearing.
The failed vanos seals do not have an influence on this.
Loosening the sprocket mounting bolts will disturb the timing and special tools are needed to reset it.
