Subject: No Sympathy for US car makers from me...

For too long they have produced inadequate cars for today's environment. I have always hated SUVs and you would think that some wise owl at GM would have thought that maybe it was possible petrol prices would increase one day. Their situation reflects poor planning, lack of foresight and in retrospect, arrogance. I also hate that when I am behind one of their vehicles doing a right hand turn I am unable to see past the behemoth infront of me (usually some US contraption).

Also I was reading in the NY Times that much of their problem stems from their healthcare promises to retired ex-GM workers and was costing the company billions each year. If some of you recall the heated debate that was had on this board months ago where I, along with other like minded board members were branded as "socialist" because of our views supporting government run healthcare. Well here is the result of your privately run system guys: contributing factor in collapsing one of the biggest and oldest US institutions
