because newer cars are going to be launched at very high prices compared to E65/66. Current owners may not be tempted like from E38 to E66. Price difference was there but not like this!!! (at least in this part of the world). If you compare E66 with E38 shape and equipment difference, it was redesiged car but F01 still has many similarities both interior and exterior.

E66 are great cars but require more attention than E38. Very sensetive electronics, not many options (rather none) to retrofit or upgrade or aftermarket stuff. So if you going for one, please list your favourite options before selecting one car as you will not have choice to upgrade or retrofit. For example, if you like more bass and wish for a good or decent quality sound system, dont think in line with infinity bass link in E38, go for a car with L7 premium sound system.

I am not sure about US market but over here no one likes to own "i" every one has "Li".

Best would be to search board for various topic posts including problems etc to know more about these cars. There is decent information availabel including several issues that I have posted and most of them were resolved. If you can go for 06-07 would be better options as most of the recalls and troubles are dealt with.
