I'm 16 and I did this repair to my parent's 2000 528i back in April. The car was experiencing all the symptoms Rajaie described.
The install went very smooth, thanks to Rajaie's great instructions.
It took me about eight hours to finish, but I was taking my time. When I removed the Vanos, the intake piston was very loose, and was rattling around. The old buna seals were very brittle and the just broke apart when I squeezed them in my hand. The time came when I had to start the engine, and I was anticipating the engine to shake and sputter, but it started right up with no hiccups or anything! Yeah!!
Took it for a test drive and it had a heck of a lot more power.

Now, it's been about 5000 miles since the repair and the idle is still rock solid, and after the first 500 miles the power got even better!

Thanks Rajaie for developing these seals!
