Subject: Bluetooth migration problem

I had an E38 Bluetooth retrofit kit from Bimmernav and installed it about two years ago. It worked great. I have since sold the E38 and tried installing the kit in my M3 and it won't go into the pairing mode or give any other signs of life.

The facts: 2003.5, 04/03 production date M3 that is prewired for phone. I used the same 5th gen ULF, bluetooth antenna, microphone, SES jumper and pairing button. The car does not have Nav.

I doubled checked the connections to make sure they were correct and secure.
I followed this pairing sequence: press and hold pairing button for a couple of seconds, turned key to position 2, continued to hold pairing button for a couple of seconds and release...nothing.

Any thoughts on likely problem? I didn't have to "code" my E38 at the dealer when I installed this system, is an 03 M3 different perhaps?
Thanks in advance for your insight.
John
