Subject: Not a BMW kill, but funny as and broke us all up

I'm a service writer in a Saab dealership, and one of our loan cars is a wickedly fast Carbon Black 9-5 High Output Turbo 2.3 sedan - looks like your ordinary beige-jacket Saab, but its just a buzz to tromp on and race away at the lights.

A customer that we'll call Bob, had the 9-5 for the day and came in with a huge grin on his face - turns out that he had had a bit of a spar with a bloke in a Holden Special Vehicles R8 Clubsport. The Clubbies are a four door sedan (www.hsv.com.au) pack a 390hp LS2 6 speed small block, and as mature males sometimes do in high speed cars, he and Bob played around before they went into the toll gates for the bridge, right beside each other.

Their $2.20 cleared at the same time, and they stomped on the accelerators. Bob reckons he had to fight with the 9-5's torque steer in every gear change of the auto, and even though he could hear the Clubbie roaring, he couldn't see it until it appeared in the left hand side mirror slowly but surely slipping away.

Bob's let off the pedal when he's seen 170km/h in a very indecent time, and the HSV roared angrily past him. Bob laughed, went back down to the 100km/h limit and drove on.

When he's gone off the offramp on the freeway to go to our shop, there's the HSV sitting at the lights at the bottom, and Bob couldn't help himself and would down the window when he pulled up beside him.

"I just creamed your arse with a four cylinder," Bob said politely, and he reckoned the look on the Clubbie' owners face was of complete shock.

We've had a good laugh at this story and didn't think anything more of it, when later that afternoon one of the HSV customers came in to book a serice. While he's talking to the service writers, he's shaking his head.

"This fucken clown in a Saab just blew me away from the Gateway gates like I was standing still, and then he fucken tells me its only a 4 cylinder!!"

Well, we all had conniptions trying not to laugh at this poor goose - he was really cut up by the fact that he was owned big time by Bob the accountant in a loan car, and he asked the HSV service writer to check the engine in the service to see if it was all ok and not down on power!!

Cheers

JOHN
