The BT antenna in an E39 is best placed in the trunk, not in the C-pillar. No need to fish a wire into the cabin if you don't have to. I thought Bimmernav has a picture of the location but I cannot find it. It must have been on Martin's shipped printed instructions.

Anyway, the antenna fits in a triangular spot under the parcel shelf in the center of the trunk. If you open your trunk and look around, you can see the area where the antenna would go and you should even be able to see the hole you would use for the antenna mounting screw.

Also, I recommend getting the BT ULF mounting bracket. It puts the ULF in a nice tucked away spot and the BMW OEM BT antenna wire is just long enough to reach it -- nothing is hanging out or held on via Velcro.

Also don't forget to get an SES jumper plug if you need it! The system will not work correctly without it.

If you really want to complete the installation and have $10 lying around, get the BT passkey card and BT manual from your dealer. Having those in the owner's manual zip case adds a cool factor of 0.01% (I say this from experience). (Actually, it's nice to have the BT passkey sticker on a credit-card-sized card in the zip case for when you need to pair a spouse's phone or show off for your friends.)
