hello there!

just graduated from an e38 to an e66 last week. picked up a titanium grey 745Li done 83,000 kms (51,500 miles) with light grey interior. the car had a complete history, initially maintained at the dealer and later at the same indy that i take my e38 to.

liked the car so much that i decided to pick it up, inspite of the following issues:
(a) no spare keys - only 1 key was available with the seller
(b) no NAV CD - used the one from my e38 to test the NAV unit, worked fine.
(c) floor mats were dirty - replaced them.
(d) door sills were all scraped and worn out - replaced them.

the plus points were as follows:
(1) had two car phones, both working well
(2) rear passenger seats are fully loaded - memory seats, same functions as the front seats.
(3) shaft doors, all working well
(4) had considerably less miles on it, despite being a 2002 model

i am completely new to the e66 and have been a member of the e38 forum for a long time. went through some of the posts on this forum and some got me worried.

i was particularly worried about (a) transmission issues and (b) electrical glitches. last night the rear headrest kept going up and down and i was quite shocked. i had read this post somewhere on how the electricals go crazy on the pre-2004 models.

i am looking for any advice as a newbie. the car drives like a beauty. totally different experience than the previous bmws i have owned. i still have my e38 and going to put it up for sale. served me well. had it for about 4 years now. its a 2001 and has now done 100K miles.

will post pictures as soon as i finish clearing off minor cosmetic issues with my latest acquisition.

look forward to any advice.

cheers

luke
