if you own an e36 coupe or saloon i had same problem but managed to find an adaptor plate that bolts on to the underside of the parcel shelf (obviously remove the old speakers and boxes first) once bolted in you can fit any make of 6 by 9 speakers to the adaptor plate they dont take up any more room than the old set mp and when looking at the speaker grilles in the car it all looks standard the only difference is the big sound that comes out of them and the sound quality will be alot better. the adaptor plates cost about 25 pounds and i bought a cheap set of 6 by 9 speakers for about 30 pounds worth every penny
