Turns out it is not a HUP after all.
There were approximately 12,000 HU (Heavy Utility) trucks built in Canada and they came in a variety of configurations: HUW (Wireless... communications), HUP (Personnel carrier), HUA(Ambulance), PUTR (field office), HUM (Machinery), and X which is a pickup style with no 'van' on the back.
Turns out mine is a MACH-ZL2 (HUM) used by the RCEME (Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers) as repair shops. Less
than 1000 were built because they were not considered tall enough to work inside and only 4 are known to still exist. Mine makes 5.
So I feel I have an obligation to restore it properly which means the 235 as it is nigh identical externally to the 216 anthe 216 in there is not a numbers matching engine... I don't think.
I am pulling the 216 apart but most CMP guys say give that up.
