looks as if I MIGHT come out ahead.

the cash after the dedutable is 'nuff to cover a body shop/paint shop's cost in cash for a total repaint, and I'm in a club that the other $ will cover other costs. he does good work, use to deal with painting racing cars.

SO, I GET A WHOLE NEW PAINT JOB > Dave Gerdes, said "every panel is dented or scratches except one or two at best." 3 weeks later we'll see how good the work is at thecollisionexperts.com. located lewisville, the committed with the holidays, the car can be available sometime in early january.

well, old betsy (95, 740il, 4.4) gets fresh coat and 3 clear coats. he uses an industry recognized paint seal of approval (APA? apg? WTF?), and has a gigantic 90K paint booth in his shop. I saw it try to eat me we were there dealing with taking the front wheels back to star tire (another tread) and the booth all of a sudden hit the lights temp and was baking a retouch job on some finely taped/masked chrystler in metallic silver.. a freaking oven, 150F. it was pretty amazing...all com'puter controlled.

anyway, we'll see what happens!
