I have had my 2003 E65 for exactly one year now, and to me, this model year is the best price-value for this car. Plus there are now plenty of them out there with 6 yr./100K warranties - a good thing.
2003s built before 3/03 came standard with CD-based nav (NAV101 systems with regional disks and some limits to the display), plus phone systems that are unusuable without a suitable Bluetooth adapter, but you can address both of these limitations pretty easily, if you are careful about compatiblity - see elsewhere on this site.)
I took it out on a track at a BMW Club event, and it was then I would have appreciated having the sport suspension option. As it was, it felt like the Queen Mary out there, compared to all of those 3 and 5 series zipping around. Shutting off Dynamic Stability Control and Dynamic Traction Control while on the course helped me learn how much they smooth out the ride and take the edge off my braking and cornering errors at higher speeds.
IMHO, this car is best for road trips. If that's even a minor way you would use it, I think you would definitely want Active Cruise Control.
I suggest keeping it on a battery maintainer if you don't drive it every day.
Warning: These cars are highly addictive!
