for those of you that have experienced a dead battery in the 328, 325, and the 318 I think too...

I called autozone at 10 pm and of course they're open till midnight. I call, the lady says they have a battery for my car. sure I think.

I get there and the only battery they have *of course its not an OEM BMW battery, is a DURALAST with about an inch shorter than my OE.

In addition the drain tube is on the side. they discover this is for the convertible and NOT the sedan that I have...however, upon further recollection when removing the old battery, that the battery clamp down in the BMW battery compartment (right rear, trunk, under storage bin) is adjustable....moves forward or back in 4 or 5 different holes.

I buy the shorter duralast battery, and wow, it has a "drain tube extender" bag attached to the side of the batter, "for BMW applications"...WOW, someone is thinking here. it has 800 cranking amps compared to the 750 on the OEM. I think this might actually work, but they promise me if it doesn't fit, they'll take it back.

I get home, and pop it in and sure enough, the clamp fits it perfect and the battery works great. for 65 bucks, I don't care if the next owner bitches its NOT an OEM battery...it starts and thats what matters! my wife is off to work at 7am sharp and not a wink of sleep lost worrying about if the car will start in the morning!

beats the stealer's price of hundreds of bucks!
