Subject: 1991 Honda Civic Vs a 200? Toyota Corolla

So a buddy and I were cruising back from Hollywood last Wed night. We were pimping in his faded red 91 Civic. The mods this car has is: a busted rear bumper with the paint flaking off, a cracked windshield, and a driver's seat with a huge rip in the seat, steel wheels. I think this car is like a 1.0 liter. On the plus side, it is a manual. But the car sounds and feels like it's going 100 mph when it's really only going 70 mph.
So we're cruising north on the 110 Freeway heading back up to Pasadena. For those that don't know the 110 Frwy, it's the oldest frwy in LA and has tons of fun sweeping turns. So my friend is cruising at like Mach -5 when all of a sudden we see a car zooming up right behind us. The car then zags to the right and begins to pass us. I can't see the car yet but I do hear this loud a$$ exhaust revving hard. The car gets next to us, it's a beige Corolla (not even the S version) with metal rims painted black. The driver looks at us and nods. My bud and I are laughing, but hey a race in any car on the 110 is fun. So we take off, well kind of. We're doing like 75 mph and the Corolla starts pulling away from us. So I'm like, DUDE, DOWN SHIFT IT! He's like ....why bother, it's not gonna do anything (he's already red lined in 5th gear). So as we get into some twisties the lack of skill of the driver in the Corolla starts to show. He's breaking early in the turns, etc. So we take advantage and zoom past him at like 78 mph. He catches up to us at the end of the freeway as it turns into a normal road. We're at the light and the guy signals for me to role my window down. I'm like, crap, here we go.... we're gonna get into a fight because of this. But instead of starting crap with us, he says "What you got in there??". I look at my buddy and start cracking up. I'm like, uhhhhh.. it's stock. He's like really???? He looked really perplexed. So we head down the road and he gets in front of us at a turn signal. It just so happens that we are going the same way. Now he thinks we're following him.
This is the funny part - the Corolla pulls to the side and puts his flashers on. Now I've seen this move before when I've played Need For Speed. This is just like the movies, except our car doesn't have NOS, it's a POS and his car is not too far from it. Now my buddy and I are really dying laughing. But we go along with it and drag race down the street for like a quarter mile. I think we got up to around 50 mph before we had to exit. The driver of the Corolla gives us the thumbs up and we go our separate ways.
What a funny night!!!!
