The BlackBerry will let you enter anything into a phone number field. Unfortunately, it should not transfer non phone number characters, but it does, and the BMW ULF barfs when it does.

So, they key is to delete any kind of non dial-able data from a phone number field. I had return characters with multiple phone numbers in my, plus I had notations like x-123 for an extension and I had names next to numbers in my phone number fields.

Once I had only numbers, commas, dashes, and periods in the phone fields, all was well.
