since they are redoing the torsion bars and springs for to lift it up higher, I thought I would let a pro handle it at the same time. If I hadn't lifted it, I might have tried it myself. The only issue you may have is that the torsion bar (at least mine) had to be slid out a little so that the 3800 could grab on. After that, you drill a couple holes for screws/bolts to attach the 3800 to your bar, attach the 3800 to the wall, and then hook up some wires. You can also put on the other parts (door lock and cable tension monitor) afterwards, though I may leave them off. The installer (when he was here for some part of Wednesday) said they have more issues than they help putting on the tensioner monitor. But that could just be one guys opinion. Check out the liftmaster website... they have the pdf manual for installation on there i believe. Inside the user manual. Doesn't really look difficult.. especially when you think we're ripping the top of our engines off to change a gasket! =)
