Just thought I would take a moment to say hi. The various archives and searches have been a tremendous help in keeping my baby on the road for many years. Past 225,ooo miles over the weekend and still running strong. I must say that a key piece of advice was given to me years ago by Max at another site, fix things as they need it or the car will eat you alive. Thanks to posters such as Max, Shogun, Sean, Johan, and far to many others I have really enjoyed the miles.
Did a complete brake job, including rebuilding the calipers, metal bushing guides, zimmerman rotors front and rear, stainless lines, and trying the new Mintex pads(since they once again are using metallic shims). The summer heat is murder on pads and the system as a whole.
Next, the rear LAD is shot, so I am going to do a complete suspension overhaul within the next month. Thinking of keeping it stock, but adding a set of H&R springs. Maybe I will have tracked down a set of AC Schnitzer wheels by then. Thinking 17", but I have looked for a long time and am content with the 15" originals. Have looked for a bodykit for like three years, but may have to be content just geting a fresh paint job in the fall. Dust storms and sun/heat do wonders on the exterior even if it is well maintained.
After 8 years I still have a smile on my face every time I turn the key. Highlights include passing going up a mountain when it is over 115 F ouside strangling smaller engines, when the passenger looks at the speedometer and remarks,"Are we really going 120 mph."
No real tech advice, or questions, just wanted to say hi. Will try to help out if I can. Car was built 5/89 and won't be put to rest until I can't find the parts to rebuilt her.
