Your new phone will NOT work with the E38 electronics unless you upgrade to Bluetooth; only CPT8000 phones will give you phone book on the display, steering wheel control, etc.

However, I guess you could simply purchase a new eject box (into which your snap-in adapter will go) and hook up the wires so that your phone charges while in the adapter. But you won;t be able to use the steering wheel controls and the navigation screen or MID to control the phone.

Bimmernav.com has the eject box that you would use, or your local dealer can order one. I have two of them myself but don't know the part number offhand.

As for the antenna wire, I'm not sure I see where the wire is torn off. It looks like the previous owner attached the antenna wire to some adapter -- I think the purple connector is called either mini-UHF or FAKRA, but I forget which. I do know that I had to purchase a mini-UHF to FAKRA adapter when I upgraded to my CPT8000.

Maybe it would help if you showed the other end of the purple connector cable. Is it hanging free?

The good (?) news is that if you do decide to upgrade to Bluetooth, then you'll be unplugging all of that anyway, and will be able to connect it up correctly. I upgraded my E38 to Bluetooth using the Bimmernav system and it's tremendous. Totally integrated and all OEM.

Plugging in your Sony Ericsson 610 won't matter to the antenna since the electronics won't work with it, so unless you step up to Bluetooth any antenna connection is meaningless.
