there are many places that sell that. The repair manual in paper is available on ebay sometimes and at some auto lit speciality stores.

For an 85, here is a recommended set of reference documents.

BMW E24 (6-series) Repair CD
BMW 1985 635CSi ETM (Electrical Troubleshooting Manual) for wiring diagrams
and the best single source for info is the Bentley 1982-1988 BMW 5-Series repair manual. This
$50 book on the 5 covers the drivetrain and many other parts of the 6-series as it is based on the 5-series. There is no Bentley 6-series manual for your car.
