I remember when I bought my E38 that the used prices for a three year old 750iL were very close to what I paid for my 740iL. I bought mine one year before the new E65 came out. It seemed like back then, buyers might have been afraid of the 12-cylinder cars, so that drove the prices down. Now people are way more comfortable with the big engines, and the prices are holding much stronger.

I have been following the 12-cylinder BMW and Audi market, thinking of the future car, and those both seem to be priced way higher than when the 12-cylinder cars available 6 years ago. The 2005s are still deep into the $70K range, but they would have been in the high $50K range if we had yesteryear's depreciation.

I want my next car to be a 12!

Today's 8-cylinder car is yesterday's 6-cylinder.
