At any point along the length of the car. From there I use bottle jacks to the typical lift points (front sub-frame center and rear differential).

I typically use two bottle jacks on one block of wood for added safety, but I've not had a stability problem. I've done front and rear suspension repairs without trouble, and the great thing is that the bushing bolts front and rear can be tightened with the suspension in its normal configuration.
