Subject: A race with my 750 against an M5! A race I always wanted!

I have never had a race or an encounter with a current M5! Tonight when I happen to not have my Co-Pilot with me did I manage a couple of miles worth of running against one!

I've had several E46 M3's and just wondered how much more an M5 would be.

It was early morning approx. 1.20 a.m when I saw the M5 waiting at the double lane traffic lights. I roll up and park next to it and saw a few guys in it who looked quite cheerful! I indicated for a race and they just smiled but I wasn't sure if it was a yes or no. But I'm ready for any surprise attacks if there should be one!

Anyways, the lights went green and we get off slow then BAM! the M5 goes and I follow straight after him! (I was ready, and god should I have been!)

He keeps in front of me by about 2.5 Car Lengths as we went from 25mph right thru to 100mph! Then we slowed down at the next lights when the boys shouted over that they were a 518i? Bleedin cheeky and taking the pi$$!

Shall we go again? I agreed as we counted 1-2-3 and I managed to screech off the lights 1st and gained only 3/4 of a car length and made no more progress as we thundered to 90mph! He was edging on VERY CLOSE by my side and looked like he could have edged on slowly past me! but I was saved because we approach the next set of lights! Phew!!! Sweat was developing which never happened before!

Want more? Yes please! GREEN! We launched off the lights with him 1.5 Car Lengths in front and making no more progress as I was closely behind all the way to 110 mph!! I could see a face looking at me as if to say "the f-cker is still behind us!"

Then at the lights they said they'd leave it at that and go home a winner! and that I need something more powerful the next time!!!!
I would've liked a few more runs.

When I was just in front the M5 had great difficulty in catching up quickly ( Before my encounter, I honestly thought that it would waste me like $hit!)
It only edged on bit by bit kinda acceleration. And it was the same vice versa for me.

But when it was in front of me by 2.5 car lengths, it could not pull any more and then we shut it down when lights approached!!

I now know that my Baby Monster is somewhere between an M3 and closer to the M5.

A beautiful experience!
