I have read in a couple places that the 1st Generation ULF (Part Number 84.21-6 934 552) does not support SMS. Maybe the 2nd Generation ULF supports it, but I have not seen anything to document that it does. Several people have tested SMS with a 3rd Generation ULF, and I have tested SMS on a 4th Generation ULF. So, if you want to play it safe, get nothing less than a 3rd Generation ULF.

I have personally seen SMS work on a 4th Generation ULF (PN 84.21-6 950 089).
