Two options have come up for group buy offers on OBD-II code reading/diagnostics software. These offers were discovered and set up by Tan on the E39 board. I have done business with him in the past and he is a really good guy. One offer is from AutoEnginuity. Although this product, with discount, is $169.95 (with 10+ participants) (the retail price is $229.95 + shipping), it incorporates all available makes/models in one single product. The other offer is through OBD-2 The “all car” option with the OBD-2 product costs extra. Please post your preferences and Tan will decide which product to go with for this group option based on how many responses for each. All money exchanges are direct through the manufacturer.

OBD-2 tool:

"Quantity group buy discount is 2% per quantity up to 30% off any scan tool mix or match, example 10 is 20% off. 15+ = 30% off = 122 -30% = $85 for ISO model, add $4 ship outside USA. Can provide special web order link. Will need total list of names and or emails. Can also ship all to you or individuals.
Trican scan tool is max. of 25% off."

AutoEnginuity tool:

"We do honor group buys. We require at least ten participants for a pricing of 169.95 USD. Five through nine for 179.95 USD. We sell to each individually person and ship accordingly. Shipping will be UPS for domestic and USPS for international. Once you feel you are ready we will have a 48 hour countdown in which the participants can contact us for this special pricing. We use a code word during that period. Once that special offer expires—it expires"

I have a few personal notes to add to this.

OBD-2 Pros: Free software upgrades! Cables are upgradeable. I have seen the OBD-2 software at a local group meeting and really liked it. It seemed pretty easy to use and customizable. It looks like a pretty good deal for the BMW only option with this discount at only $85 with 15 participants. Free shipping.

Cons: It does not state that is resets check engine and service engine soon lights. Currently no wireless option.

Final price for all 3 options minus discount is $136.50 (if I read their site correctly)

AutoEnginuity Pros: A 3-in one upgradeable tool. Free software upgrades! Bluetooth interface (extra cost). Carrying case for CD and cable. Resets Check Engine light. Comes with a free program that can check: 0-60ft time, 0-60 MPH, 1/8 mile time, 1/8 mile speed, 1/4 mile time, 1/4 mile speed, G Forces, SAE Horsepower, Torque, SAE Horsepower and Torque vs RPM graphing, Speed vs Time graphing based directly off of your car’s computer and not a gyroscope and GPS like some products.

Cons: The price is ~$30 more then the other product (with 10+ participants) for the software and cable plus shipping. I have never seen it and can only base my comments off of researching their site and a few reviews I have found on both products. Shipping ~$15 per their website. (this MAY be different for the group buy but I have heard no details on this)

If you have any questions please post them and I will attempt to answer what I can or Tan can jump in to answer specifics about the deal.

Please email him directly at: tann@softhome.net with your preference or post.

Thanks
Steve
