Subject: Angel Eye upgrade successful!

Well, it took a bit of time but I was able to get the Angel Eyes
installed on my car yesterday. The hard part was trimming the
rings so that they would fit in the 99-01 headlight housings. I found
that toe nail clippers were the perfect tool for doing this. I
started out with a nail file and it was taking forever. You need
to trim each outside corner on the top opening of the ring. You
need to remove roughly 2mm of material(So 1mm on each corner). Once
you have done this the ring will fit, although it will be snug. I
then used a dab of clear silicone at the bottom and at each end on
the top of the ring. Use the silicone sparingly. Once it dried I
remove any excess from around the ring. I ran the wires back thru
housing. One hint on this, is use a flat edge screw driver to pry the opening a bit so that it is easier to slide the wire thru. I then used the provided wiring harness to hook everything
up. I hooked the yellow wire to the + jump start terminal on the
left side/front of the motor and the ground to a bolt on the oil
filter canister. Note that there is already a ground for something
already on there so I used the other bolt next to it. After that
I just ran the harness around to each headlight and tapped in to the
passenger side parking light which acts as a trigger for the relay.
Actually, I accidentally tapped into the turn signal the first time.
Anyway, they look awesome! In fact they make the OEM Angel eyes looks
after market. The are much brighter! I would say this is a 3 out of 5
on the DIY scale, mainly because of the trimming needed for the rings
and the fact that the directions weren't very good( they seemed to
be for installing in a 95 3 series). Good luck with your installs.
