I doubt it will ever become a real "classic". There are very few cars that really achieve the classic/collectable status with matching price tag, The newest BMW that achieved that (IMHO as ever) is the e30 M3.

However a clean e32 is still regarded as a very nice car. With my former 735i every now and then I would get a compliment on how nice of a car it was. But then again that's also starting to happen with my e39 as most of those over here in Holland look quite shabby with big wheels, lowered, loud exhausts,..etc.

I doubt the e32 will die out. They are now starting to reach the age of 25 where in some countries they apply for lower (or no) taxes, cheap insurance,...etc. So who knows...
