Subject: Hyundai will likely not admit it, but I do see E32 DNA in early Genesis sedan

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, IMHO. Hyundai would probably not admit it, but I do see a resemblance in the taillights and the beltline of the car. It's certainly not an unkind comparison to either car. Hyundai has identified BMW as a credible competitor to their Genesis and Equus designs. I'm more flattered that Hyundai has styled even a coincidental resemblance to the E32's, rather than BMW, who has apparently completely shed any trace or hint of the E32's heritage in E65/E66's or the F01/F02 cars.

Also, it isn't your imagination that BMW did install a GM automatic transmission into certain E46 sedans. This transmission has a largely mixed reputation. Half of the users had no issues with this transmission, which was actually made by Allison in France, but others complain that this transmission shifts so horribly that it feels like it's shifting in the car BEHIND you.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but my opinion of GM's quality control up until the last several years has not been favorable.

Most manufacturers generally buy their transmissions and other parts such as engine control systems, etc. from other manufacturers, so it wouldn't surprise me if BMW and Hyundai just so happened to share some parts.
